Clay bricks are major inputs in the building industry. They are mainly used to construct outside and inside (partition) walls of small and large buildings. Mini Cement Plant

All the cement requirement of the Amhara Region comes either from Muger or Mekele which are more than 500 km each from Bahir Dar.  Transporting cement from these areas increases the price of cement in the Amhara Region by at least 40 percent.  This makes the cost of cement more expensive than in any other larger region of the country.  The high cost of cement in the Region, retards the growth of the construction sector.  The recent upsurge in construction activities in the Region clearly indicates the need of establishing cement factory (ies) in the Region.  This project idea proposes the establishment of a small scale cement plant in the Amhara Region.
